About Marika

Marika was born on July 31, 1993, in Massa Marittima and lives in Follonica (Grosseto), a lovely town on the Tuscan coast, situated between Maremma and the Etruscan Coast. Growing up in this enchanting area, Marika was surrounded by the colors and beauty of nature, between the sea, the countryside, and the Mediterranean maquis.

Marika's talent for drawing was recognized from an early age. She fondly remembers her friends asking her to draw animals on their school notebooks. However, it wasn't until after completing her degree in Tourism Science in 2016 that she consistently took up drawing again, developing a passionate focus on portraits.

After posting one of her early portraits on Facebook, she noticed significant interest in her work. This encouraged her to take on private commissions and deepen her understanding of painting techniques. In 2024 she graduated from the Milan Art Institute's Mastery Program, which helped her identify her artistic voice and themes that resonate with her nature.

Marika's works exude a love of freedom, the exotic, and the wild. The characters she depicts, both animal and human, often from distant lands, are untamed, proud, and wise, serving as guardians of ancient traditions and the natural world.

Her love for travel, both physical and metaphorical as a means of escaping everyday life, combines with her studies in Tourism Science. She is passionate about issues such as eco-sustainability and biodiversity protection, which she supports through her artwork, messages, and donations. Marika hopes to have an increasingly positive impact in the future.

Using a variety of mediums, from charcoal to graphite and acrylic to oil paints, Marika blends mixed painting techniques, touching on Realism and Expressionism. One of her goals is to transport viewers into a dreamscape of freedom and nature, which is reflected in her preference for earthy tones, greens, and blues of the sea.

This deep love for nature is also evident in her choice of studio, which overlooks the city's central park and allows her to create with the benefit of natural light.

In the near future, Marika intends to grow as an artist, developing and perfecting her personal technique, and reaching more people who share her vision and energy. Her next step includes opening an e-commerce platform where it will be possible to purchase not only original works but also prints of her art.
